First I want to say that I really tried to unclog my plumbing. I actually went a rented a motorized professional 1.25" snake and lifted bad boy into my truck. (It was really heavy) Even after snaking out the pipe (75') I still had stoppage. They came out reasonably quickly. I say reasonably because when there's a sewage stoppage, tempers get short, lol. Our plumber, looked at, rubbed his chin, and said "We need to snake it from there to there". The problem was outside and a much bigger pipe. That requires a really big snake. My plumber quoted me the new price for the larger snake. I almost soiled right there but I was desperate at this point and he says that's the price. Yes, I felt stuck. He reassured me and said that's the whole price, guaranteed. Ok, have at it. He opens up his truck and unfolds a small crane with a huge, man sized snake. I could see why they charge what seemed to be expensive. There was no way I could even handle a machine that heavy. AND then, this guy pops open the cap on that main line and out popped a bubblin goo that woulda made Jed Clampitt proud. That made the expense seem way more reasonable. My god of the pipes starts using that huge reamer and gave those pipes a thorough scraping. He pulled his tool out, put a new plug on the pipe, cleaned up and I paid. Honestly, while it was a bit of money, this guy earned every penny. I'd say it was an excellent value.
